Dedicated, Proven Intelligence Management

Distillery Intelligence Hub is the proven solution for intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination, providing a secure, scalable solution for agencies in law enforcement, national security, border control and defence. For mission critical reliability and performance, Intelligence Hub provides a platform for:

  • intelligence collection, analysis, production and dissemination,
  • tasking, briefing and coordination,
  • incident management,
  • profile matching, security vetting and risk assessment,
  • fraud and compliance management, and
  • any other business process that needs to be intelligence-led.

At the heart of Intelligence Hub is its unique entity and rich link model, which enables the capture and linking of information to generate intelligence. Combined with its fine-grained security framework with state-based control over permissions, Intelligence Hub preserves need to know while enabling need to share. Intelligence Hub supports integrated workflow and tasking, providing a 360 degree intelligence-centric view of operations in relation to core intelligence data.

Web-deployed with browser delivery, Intelligence Hub is used by customers globally across worldwide networks, as well as operating in a number of highly classified systems.

Web-Based User Interface

Extended with integrated document analysis and visual charting tools, enterprise services to support data integration and exchange, and a range of prebuilt business modules, Intelligence Hub offers significant capability in supporting the intelligence lifecycle.

Flexible, Robust & Scalable Intelligence Management

Distillery Intelligence Hub enables the modification of business specific metadata, workflow and business rules in real time without compromising the core database model. This metadata driven approach gives Intelligence Hub the ability to implement complex business data models.

Our unique integration of the business data model with the application data model gives appropriately privileged administrators the power to update business specific metadata such as field names, workflow, validation, mandatory fields and list content, through the controls of the application environment. Metadata changes are achieved without the need for database access or the need to alter the underlying database model.

The data model is based on an entity-association paradigm. Associations between entities are themselves rich data types containing their own describing attributes and allowing for additional supporting data.

The model is unique in that it:

  • provides a high level approach to modelling a business domain while still leveraging the implementation strengths of a standard relational database, e.g. primary and foreign keys, cardinality etc,
  • allows for sophisticated network analysis of entities and associations, and
  • provides for a full application metadata capture and manipulation.

Intelligence Hub is proven and established through years of research and client interaction, capturing the complexity and richness of intelligence models to suit a wide range of requirements.

Powerful Searching Capabilities

Distillery Intelligence Hub provides comprehensive structured and unstructured search capabilities, including fuzzy name matching, cross-entity searches, and the unique ability to search across links in the network of information created via the entity-association model.

Link searching traverses the networks to discover both information defined within entities and information defined on the associations between entities to multiple levels. This allows discovery of non-obvious links between entities, particularly where intelligence has been collected from disparate sources. Individual textual and temporal criteria can be defined for each node and each link between nodes to “n” depth, with link and entity type filtering.  Each result is checked against the security model for all possible combinations of entity, link and attribute access and filtered accordingly.

All searches can be saved, named and automated using Intelligence Hub's Proactive Alert Monitor capability, which can be controlled by users to alert them about changed and new information.

Extended searches into other data sources can also be added via the Federated Search adapter, available as part of the Distillery Enterprise Services family.

Fine-Grained Security Framework

Intelligence Hub’s Security Framework is comprehensive, fine-grained and robust.  The Security Framework has been developed over a number of years in collaboration with national intelligence organisations and their internal security departments in Australia and New Zealand.

In Australia, systems using Intelligence Hub have been implemented to the highest levels of classification by the Australian information security authority, the Defence Signals Directorate.

Intelligence Hub’s Security Framework supports both need to know and need to share concepts through functions such as signposts, tripwires and access certificates as well as providing for compartmentalisation and controls access to information from the record group level to individual field values.

The Security Framework metadata implementation also allows for real-time manipulation of each access control to entities, links and attributes for each designated user of the system.

Flexible Integration Options

Distillery Intelligence Hub and Distillery Enterprise Services offer a range of integration options, including:

  • Data Export Service: expose Intelligence Hub data for exchange in any required structured data format
  • Intelligence Repository Service: API containing structured data storage & retrieval concepts
  • Document Repository Service: API containing document storage & retrieval concepts
  • Messaging Service: permits export of networks, entities, embedded binary objects and field values to external systems
  • The Intelligence Hub API: API supports session creation, search execution, operations in relation to index data, link manipulation between data entities, and operations in relation to metadata
  • Triggers & User Exits: calls to external programs can be triggered using predefined conditions
  • ERIQ: enables external systems to access Intelligence Hub data using standard relational access methods
  • ROSE: used to process data from external sources against the Intelligence Hub datastore using a series of predefined rules
  • Data Loader: configurable data processors which can load and update records and links from flat file datasets
  • Summary Forms & Publishing: Summary Forms are used to take snapshots of data for use with the Publishing and Data Export services
  • VAT Loader: facility to support record and link export to a VAT file for use in external visualisation tools

With the growing popularity of Service-Oriented Architectures, we recognize and support the need to standardise aspects of application development across the enterprise. Intelligence Hub offers the flexibility to operate as a complete self-contained enterprise system, as a system which acts as a pure intelligence data service, or as a hybrid system which serves Intelligence Hub applications to parts of the enterprise, while acting as a pure service to others.

Accelerate Takeup With Our Business Modules

Distillery Software has developed a number of reusable business modules in conjunction with its national security and law enforcement customers. Recognising that few organisational business requirements are identical in these domains, these modules support an accelerated engagement model based around gap analysis and reconfiguration.

Identity Search Module

in conjunction with a national security client and rolled out to a number of customers, our identity search capability provides tried and tested, powerful identity resolution algorithms to support identity resolution against multiple records from disparate sources. Coupled with an identity resolution application to assist users in evaluating possible identity matches, the Identity Search Module provides up to tenfold increases in productivity, ensuring faster turnaround in the identity resolution process.

Vetting Module

Developed in conjunction with a national security client and rolled out to a number of customers, our vetting module provides automated background checking and business process support for the vetting process. Used to provide checks for flight & airline staff, requests for purchases of dangerous chemicals, security clearances, and other similar purposes, the vetting module provides a significant component in any national infrastructure.

Investigation Management Module

Developed in conjunction with a major police force and extended for use by an anti-corruption agency, our investigation management module provides a powerful intelligence-led investigation capability to any investigation team. Providing Investigation, Witness and Exhibit management combined with a flexible tasking and collaboration system, our investigation management module is being used to fight crime globally. Our investigation management solution is recognised as the only intelligence-led investigation management solution which is capable of supporting investigations from incident through to prosecution, while powering it with our unique intelligence capability to boost detection rates and link non-obvious connections to help solve crimes fast.

Intelligence-Centric Case Management

Our case management capability is uniquely built using the underlying intelligence model, ensuring a 360° operational perspective which is uniquely linked to core intelligence in the system. This provides a significant benefit in the way that it permits an intelligence-centric view of all operations in relation to entities in the system.

This approach has provided significant operational benefit to existing customers, providing insight to managers - alerting them to multiple surveillance activities being carried out in relation to the same individuals or locations, and alerting investigation teams that other investigation teams had common interests - prompting information exchange and merging of operations.
